Real Leather

Genuine leather is made from the skins of animals (such as cattle). Becasue no two animals are the same, each leather sofa has unique characteristics.

Over time, genuine leather becomes softer and more comfortable. Geunine leather is extremely hardwearing, although colour can fade in the sunlight.

Coloured Leather Hides

Our range of coloured leather hides are made from genuine, aniline dyed leather. Aniline leather is a luxurious furniture option, which has a warm, inviting feel and is very soft to touch. Aniline leather is dyed with soluble dyes, which keep the natural 'grains' in the surface of the leather.

Bonded Leather

Bonded leather is not a single piece of animal hide but rather, a composition of genuine leather fibres (usually leftovers/cut-offs) blended together to form a seamless piece of leather material. The texture of bonded leather closely represents that of genuine leather, and the look is near identical. It also retains the smell of genuine leather.

Bonded leather is a good option for those who like the look and feel of 100% genuine leather, but can't quite afford the high price-tag that comes with it.

Faux Leather

Faux leather is a synthetic material made from a fabric base, which is treated with wax, dye and/or polyurethane to achieve the same look and texture of real leather. Being completely man-made, faux leather is the perfect choice for vegans, and is a much more affordable alternative to the real thing.

PU Leather

PU-coated leather (also known as bycast leather), is a material made with a split leather backing covered with a layer of PU (polyurethane). It is not considered to be a true form of leather.

Unlike genuine leather, the PU alternative will not stretch, deterioate or fade over time (although some people prefer the 'aging' effects of real leather), keeping a uniform shine and 'like new' appearance. Benefits associated with PU leather include easy cleaning, and better resistance to marking.
